Client’s Challenge
Designing the cover for “Op een dag ben je dood” presented a unique challenge. In the initial meeting with Anouck Meier and Borgerhoff & Lamberigts, the vision emerged for an artwork that exuded femininity, aesthetic beauty, yet conveyed a clear and impactful message. The goal was to avoid the cliché of a pink, feminist cover and create something attention-grabbing that stood out.
Addressing this challenge, I envisioned an artwork featuring a washing machine, interwoven with the author’s favourite shoes. Notably, a dinosaur graces the cover, symbolizing both the care for children and a subtle commentary on patriarchal structures. The resulting design beautifully captures femininity, merges aesthetic sophistication, and delivers a thought-provoking narrative. The cover of “Op een dag ben je dood” is a visual testament, distinctively speaking to a diverse audience and transcending the ordinary book cover.
